Havoc caused by a heavy rain on the Ghana - Burkina Faso highway

A major road from Wa to Nadowli, Lawra, Nandom and Hamile - Burkina Faso Boarder had been washed off as a result of a torrential rain in the Upper west region of Ghana. The down pour had been terribly occurred on the 12th of August, 2021 (Thursday) which had rained constantly about seven (7) hours.

It is obvious that vehicles from Accra and Kumasi travelling to Nandom, Hamile, Burkina Faso, etc, have to either stop for days or return. A bridge in between Nadowli and Babile had been cut off and a lot of gullies being created on the roads. This road we are talking about is an international road linking Ghana and Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, and others.

A Report indicated that a lot of major indemnities have been caused in the areas around Nadowli and that includes; farms crops washing away, nearby houses got flooded, and many more. The land around Nadowli township is cleared off where many trees are taken away.

People of Upper west region are passionately appealing to the abled leaders and the Government to promptly attend to this catastrophic phenomena. Mr. President, together with his abled ministry of roads and highways is counted on to act urgently by way of fixing this road for use.
