The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo seems satisfied with the work of the acting Inspector General of Police COP George Akuffo Dampare so far. The President appointed Mr. Dampare to succeed Mr. Buanuh in August this year. Since COP George Akuffo Dampare begun work as the acting GP, there have been a lot of changes in the Ghana Police Service.
He has introduced several reforms which have helped in combating crimes in some parts of the country where armed robbery cases were very rampant. Now, police officers are seen almost everywhere in the capital assisting pedestrians to use the zebra crossings. The intelligence-gathering level of the Ghana Police Service which COP George Akuffo Dampare is leading has seen a massive improvement.
Between the months of August to October this year since he started work, several armed robbers have been arrested with the stubborn ones being killed for exchanging gunshots with the police. Other armed robbery operations have been foiled even before the criminals will begin to act. Now, police officers are seen on some highways that were known to be hot-spots for armed robberies.
Most Ghanaians have seen his good works and the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo who appointed him has rained praises on the police commander. Delivering a speech at the 50th Cadet Course from the National Police Training School in the Greater Accra Region, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo did not mince words when he applauded COP George Akuffo Dampare for the good work he has been doing so far to reduce crime in the country. He is proud that COP George Akuffo Dampare did not disappoint him after handing over the Ghana Police Service in his care. He believes COP George Akuffo Dampare has vindicated his position of choosing him.
This sounds more like a promotion for COP George Akuffo Dampare and his men. This should encourage them to work harder to make sure the country is safe. They should not lose guard on their achievements so far but rather improve on them to the admiration of the entire country. For now, Most Ghanaians including the president are happy about the work of COP George Akuffo Dampare and we can encourage him to do more.
