Kumasi: A Broken Down Truck Has Killed Two Persons After Driver Refused To Take It Off The Road

A gory accident has occurred in Kumasi on the road from Tafo to Pankrono. A tipper truck carrying sand that spoilt on the road was left unattended from yesterday afternoon. A minibus from Tafo has crashed into killing the driver and the only passenger in the bus. According to residents in the area, the tipper truck got spoilt on the road around 1 pm yesterday.

The truck was not moved from the road till after it killed two persons this morning. The woman was conveying vegetables to go and sell them in the Kejetia market. The mini-bus was moving at a top speed and it crashed the back of the truck. Due to the speed at which the bus was moving, it was damaged beyond recognition and killed the only two persons in it.

Residents in the area out of anger concerning the incident, threw stones and block at the truck, breaking all of its glass windows. The action of the residents was because whenever they pack their cars at the side of the road even for a few minutes, workers from the Municipal assembly remove them from the road and fine them before allowing them to take back their cars.

However, they allowed the spoilt truck to be on the road for hours and was only removed after it killed people. Their anger was targeted against the Municipal Assembly and the company owning the truck. The two vehicles have been towed to the Tafo Divisional Police Headquarters. The two deceased have been identified as 50 years old Joyce Konadu and the driver is 39 years old Bashiru Abubakar.

The driver of the tipper truck, Rashid Shaibu has been arrested by the Police and aiding in investigations. The truck however belongs to Kofi Job Construction Limited. The bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at the morgue.
