The residents of Breman Kwanankwaa in the Central Region were taken aback on Sunday May 22 2022 when information reached them that a building had collapsed on a three year old girl who was allegedly deeply asleep in a room.
The cause of the incident was linked to a to heavy downpour that took place on the fateful Sunday morning.
According to information gathered the girl was allegedly asleep together with her parents and two other brothers in a room when the building collapsed.
But sources said that after the incident the victim Maame Esi who sustained injuries was pulled out and rushed to the Our Lady of Grace Government Hospital at Breman Asikuma for medical attention.
This was when the parents had fruitlessly managed to rescue her after successfully walking out the other children from the room when they sensed the collapsing of the weak building.
And this compelled him to keep indoors, the wife and other children including Maame Esi in the room.
Poku said in the process of the rainfall he detected some signs that the building was shaking and sensing danger of their lives he ordered the wife and other children to leave the room.
Alex Poku continued that by that time Maame Esi was fast asleep, stressing that as he took steps to pick her out from the room after checking some cracks on the building, the building unexpectedly collapsed on the daughter.
He said his timely efforts to raise an alarm which attracted neighbours to the scene only save Maame Esi who was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
At the time of going to press the victim was responding to treatment whilst the father Mr Poku is appealing to the public for financial support to enable him settle the medical bills of the victim when she is discharged.
This is because he is financially handicapped, Poku told journalists.
