The state of Ghana's security system continues to remain questionable amidst the protective measures put in place by the ordinary citizens themselves.
Though the Ministry of Defense has been tasked to ensure the internal and external safety, protection and security of every Ghanaian, it appears that this mandate contains a lot of loopholes, leaving many people in a worrying state.
The daily report of armed robbery, murder cases, money rituals, and other forms of crime is so alarming. It really grips fears in a lot of people, and make all of us wonder if indeed, we are in a peaceful country as we always brag and boast of.
I must admit that Ghana can no longer pride in her peaceful state because her security system is shaking, and if rigorous actions are not being taken, she will lose her hard-earned reputation and pride.
A report from Angel FM 102.9/Angel TV indicates that a Kidnapping incident has occurred in Offinso in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Angel FM Ashanti Regional Correspondent revealed that a 27-year-old Okada Rider chanced on the market day celebration at Offinso, and decided to tour around the new site which was considered a less busy area since most of the residents went to the market today, June 10, 2021. He then kidnapped two toddlers; ages 2 & 3, wrapped them in a sack and put them in a car.
While he was driving around town, he was caught by some residents of the Community.
The police then intervened in the situation, and was later sent to the Kumasi Police Station for further investigations and sanctions.
Reports indicate that the victims are in safe hands, and are currently receiving treatments at the appropriate health centre.
He, and all other persons involved in such a heinous crime must be allowed to face the law to deter others.
Actions must be taken immediately by the Ghana Police Service to arrest any other persons associated with the kidnapping incident and send them to jail.
