Cape coast and Twifo praso Highway Separated Into Two At Jukwa By Heavy Downpour

A few hours ago, there was a heavy rainfall which took place yesterday afternoon which happened to be on Friday 17th June 2022 around 6:00 pm and this has led to serious destruction in cape coast to Twifo praso Highway (the road which serves as a linkage between Cape coast, Twifo prison and Dunkwa on- offin) and some sub town within this municipality.


Information reaching us today confirms that this heavy rainfall started yesterday evening at Jukwa (Twifo hemang lower Denkyira) around 6:00 pm till day break(Next morning) around 7:30 am and this is recorded as 13hrs 30min rainfall.


They experienced the same rainfall on Wednesday 15th June 2022 from 8:40 am and ended at 6:00 am the next morning. This together with the previous rainfall on Wednesday has triggered in some parts of Jukwa leading to a lot of disruption to transport and causing many people to evacuate from their various homes ad houses.


Affected areas include the Jukwa bridge which serves as a linkage between the Cape coast and Twifo praso Highway heading to Dunkwa on-offin, Jukwa Zongo, Domeabra and some parts of Jukwa Nyame Ahyira which is closer to the River.


Notwithstanding that, This heavy downpour has restricted the movement of people, and cars from moving from one place to another due to the separation of some portions of the bridge. Again,this misfortune has collapsed people's homes, therefore evacuating them from their various places of residence together with some personal stuff such as Clothes, money etc and this was as a result of this heavy rainfall which lead to an increment in the volume of the water bodies to overflow it banks to cause flooding.


Affected Individuals who were victims of this misfortune include the current Exim banker CEO who is responding to Mr Lawrence Ayginsam and some individuals leaving within the above-mentioned residence. Mr Lawrence Ayginsam, Current CEO for Exim bank who was one of the victims saw his mansion being submerged with a voluminous amount of water which make it possible for the flood to evacuated two cars and three tricycles from the house. From the report, his factory which is found closer to a river is submerged in a voluminous amount of water therefore evacuating some belongings from the factory.


People living in this residence and victims are appealing government to come to their aid with an immediate effect.
