The 2020 flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. John Dramani Mahama has bounced on a serious accident with his convoy. In a video that has since gone viral, Mr. John Dramani Mahama could be seen consoling with the okada riders who were lying helplessly with mild injuries.
His convoy could be seen lined up on the road with his entourage alighting to help the situation. To save the situation, Mr. John Dramani Mahama asked for the intervention of an ambulance. “Have you called for an ambulance?” that was his question to the onlookers who had gathered at the scene.
Even though Mr. John Dramani Mahama did not mention the kind of ambulance he was referring to, it is obvious that he was asking for the intervention of one of the ambulances purchased by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo which every constituency benefitted.
The ambulances are functioning and after just a phone call, they will be there to save the situation. Most Ghanaians have condemned Mr. John Dramani Mahama for refusing to purchase ambulances when he was the president of Ghana. They have lambasted him on several occasions for purchasing sprinter buses to be served as ambulances.
After Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo purchased the ambulances, the entire country applauded him for the initiative, but it was never known that Mr. John Dramani Mahama will one day bounced on an accident and call for the assistance of the ambulances.
But why did John Dramani Mahama refused to use any of his vehicles to save the young men? This is a serious question that needs discussion. The vehicles were parked in the middle of the road whilst he calls for the intervention of an ambulance when he could have easily sacrificed any of his vehicles that were at the scene to help the situation.
The young men could have passed out whilst vehicles were available to save them. Calling an ambulance is a good thought, but the time when the ambulance will get to the scene is another issue for discussion. It is unknown what happened to the young okada riders but the assurances are that the ‘Akufo Addo ambulances’ will covey them to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
