According to OMGVoice, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh, has said the failure on the side of fathers to play their roles at home has resulted in the breeding of deviants and criminals and Ghanaians reacts massively to his statement.
According to the IGP, children grow to become criminals and enemies of society because their fathers fail to provide guidance and training when they were young.
The IGP has advised fathers not to shirk their responsibilities and should understand that their role as fathers contributes immensely to a congenial environment for all and sundry. It will also lead to much recognition of fathers on Fathers’ Day.
He said: We need to nurture our children to be of good behaviour. Today, it is common to see fathers ignore their financial responsibilities. It is therefore not surprising that the attention given to Father’s Day is not as much as that of Mother’s Day.
"Most of the serious crimes that we witness today can be attributed to the increasing rate of broken homes. It is about time our Fathers become responsible, this way, a number of societal problems will be solved," he added but Ghanaians have disagree with him when OMGVoice made the news known to them on their social media wall.
Some people said that IGP is irresponsible that is why his people (police officers) at our Boarders will take huge sum of money from criminals and permit them to cross with ammunitions into the country and said he should "Resign now".
Someone said: If government prioritize the needs of the youth and avoid spending unnecessarily, the levels of crime will reduce.
"Stop this nonsense, for boy child has endured a lot. I wonder why most men probably decline what men go through and always spew rubbish. You are a man and one day your children will say the things in front of you" another Ghanaian reacted.
Another person stated that: Thank God you are not a father yourself. We as fathers will advice ourselves.
"Yes true a typical example is YOU because of your irresponsible behaviour, policemen are being killed all the time by robbers" another Ghanaian told IGP.
