Theft robbery

Triple armed robbery cases hit Tema, Weija and Achimota less than 24 hours, are we in safer hands?

Brazen daylight armed robberies seems to be on the rise in recent times parts of the country as it appears to have now become daily ritual with citizens attacked and their valuables taken away by criminals. Achimota, Tema and Weija have all recorded these incidents in less than 24 hours.

The severity in robbery cases had become a headache to all persons in our communities despite the existence of security forces, volunteers in recent times but the most appalling aspect of it all is the frequent loss of lives at gun points, the death of innocent hustlers found in the outskirts of our cities.

Ghanaians have chided the IGP to tighten the grips over the past weeks to eradicate this serious social canker that constantly keep on day in and day out as people fall victims to robbery cases without any justifiable cause.

Robbery cases recorded in places like Achimota, Weija and Tema over some few hours seems to have caused stir in the country as people continue to live in fear, anxiety and psychologically depressed state

Instances of the Achimota and Weija daily robbery cases emanated as robbers using motorbikes forcefully and sharply snatched and took away a victim's bag and fired up a warning shot in the process to break away from the scene

Per the Closed Circuit Television, CCTV footage, on 20th September, a day before the public holiday, four robbers traced an innocent woman after cashing out huge sums of money from the UMB bank, Achimota in the traffic at gun point, robbed her of the money she had strived hard to earn and fled after the traffic light changed from red to green.

A mind boggling question is are we in a safer hands as cases on robbery keeps on escalating at an increasing rate despite our security forces and who should be blamed for such incidents?

Our security system ought to be beefed up to check and curb such menace to ensure the public is safe and perpetrators should be dealt with bitterly because of how serious robbers are taking lives, instilling fears into us which could scare off investors too.
