It initially came as rumours and everyone was expecting a rebuttal to have a relief of breath. But unfortunately, that is not forthcoming. Instead, the reverse is being confirmed in many social media handles. The king of dancehall Shatta Wale is reportedly shot shot by unknown gunmen.
There is scanty information about the incident. However, some media outlets have reported that two men on a motorbike approached Shatta Wale who was driving through the East Legon streets, shot the man and bolted. He was rushed to the hospital where he is reportedly responding to treatment.
One of his personal aides broke the news on his Instagram page a couple of hours ago. He wrote "Thanks to all those calling to check up.The king is still at the emergency ward receiving treatment. The gunmen are still on the run. Thanks to Ghana Police"
An eye witness identified as Idriss Yissif stated as follows "Right in front of eastlegon you did this to Shatta Wale, oh my God"
But the Ghana Police Service has issued a notice published on its official Facebook page stating that, the service does not know the whereabouts of the alleged shot musician. According to the police, they had placed calls to close friends of Shatta Wale but they all claimed to have no knowledge about the said incident or the whereabouts of Shatta Wale.
A team of police had also visited his East Legon house but he was not found there either. The Police are calling on the public to provide the police with any information that will lead to location of Charles Nii Armah aka Shatta Wale. It also pleaded with the public to exercise restraint in publishing such sensitive news.
