13% increment of transport fares finally out; Takes effect on Saturday 5th June [Details]

It could be recalled recently that, a lot of social media users were demonstrating and sending hashtags on the topic of fix the country. This demonstration was as a result of the increase in fuel among others. Many people were also demonstrating for the president to fix the country because they believe things were not going the way they are supposed to be.

As a matter of fact, if fuel prices increase, definitely cost of everything will increase. It happens because fuel prices always affect transport fares. Finally, the Road Transport Operations have released to the press about the 13% increment of fares which will take effect on Saturday 5th June. The communique is the first schedule increase in public transport fares for the year 2021.

This will affect intra-city which is 'trotro', intercity which is long distance, as well as shared taxis. The release is signed and dated and has been distributed to the Ministry of Transport, Information and Energy. It has also been copied to National Petroleum Authority, all press Houses and all Regional Coordinating Council. Old and current prices have been attched to it respectively.
