The Inspector-General of Police, Mr James Oppong-Boanuh, commissioned a new facility at Ateitu, a suburb of Winneba in the Central Region, commissioned District Police Headquarters for Effutu North. The facility numbers as the third built by the Member of Parliament for the Efutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo Markin and handed over to the Police within a year.
The facility also houses the New Winneba Police Station. Another police facility nearing completion is also being built by the MP. Handing over the facility, Hon. Afenyo Markin implored the police administration to combat crime with professionalism. IGP Oppong-Boanuh expressed gratitude to the MP, the Municipal Assembly and the Chiefs for their contribution towards the construction of the facility and support for the police in the constituency.
In March 2021, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin handed over a new Health Directorate to the Ghana Health Service in Effutu. The facility which is located at Atekyedo in Winneba replaces the old structure housing the health directorate.
During the commissioning of the facility, the Member of Parliament talked about the “Efutu Dream.” Concerning this dream, he revealed that he has the intention to make the constituency the gateway to Central Region. Undoubtedly, his works can surely put the constituency at the top.
The construction of the police facilities is not even the major policies and project he has devised to uplift development in the constituency. The projects include the 14 Libraries, the Royal Palm Tree which are all enshrined in the Efutu Dream vision. And then, the One Teacher One Laptop initiative.
The MP, 43, and member of NPP aside from administering the Efutu Constituency, also serve in Parliament as a member of the Defense and the Interior Finance Committee members.
