IGP Dampare Mourning Fallen Heroes Each Month Since Appointment; Check The Records

The Inspector-General of Police Dr George Akuffo Dampare has never gone without attending a funeral each month held for his fallen heroes, since his appointment. Each month has been marked with its own sad incidence leaving irrecoverable wounds in the hearts of families and colleague officers of these fallen heroes.

It should have been moments of celebration for these lives that have been lost as most of them were young officers who had demonstrated their unwavering committtmen to serve the Police Service and the country at large.

At least, the Inspector-General of Police would have expected these officers graduate to another rank under his command but the cold wreath of death robbed Constable Emmanuel Osei who was buried in July 2021, Constable Sandra Asiedu in August 2021, and Constable Ernest Newtown Dwamena in September 2021, of having the lifetime opportunity to join their colleagues celebrate the victories of their hardwork.

Today, other senior officers; Chief Inspector James Akakose Aroma and Corporal Charles Nii Adjei Osekle who passed away in a deadly accident on the Walewale -Bolgatanga highway, joins the family of fallen heroes. The delegation from the Police administration to the family have had to deal with the emotions that greeted them at the homes of the deceased officers.

These are breadwinners of families, and as such their unexpected death is a big blow to them. Conveying their condolences to the family, the Police administration could only consider a psychologist to help them through the mourning process.

As the Police administration awaits a confirmation for the final burial and funeral rites of the fallen heroes, IGP Dampare will have to conduct his roll call and identify these fallen heroes. But more importantly given the scarce nature of these officers (Anti-Robbery Taskforce) the Police would have to find a replacement soon if it wants to keep the pace in fighting robbery and other highway crimes especially in the northern part of the country.

The big question worth pondering on, is how the police could protect its own from these deaths, and the support that will be awarded the succeeding family after the funeral.
