Ghana most popular Tele - Communication Network MTN has added another feature to its "No ID No Cashout" policy for MTN Mobile Money.
This new policy initiated by the MTN Mobile Money Limited this time around, will project the name of the owner of the wallet on the agent's screen during a cashout transaction.
If the name of the Cashout owner does not match the on the ID card, the wallet will be terminated instantly.
According to Eli Hini, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Mobile Money Limited announced this to the general public through a virtual platform on Tuesday, April 13, 2021
He said, from Tuesday night, an addition feature will be activated and this feature is going to enable agents to compare the name of the wallet owner with the name on the ID card.
This is going to tell if the agent is going to proceed with the transaction or terminate the transaction.
Mr. Hini also explained that, the wallets of some mobile money agents have been suspended for accepting customers to redraw money without using a valid ID.
The Chief Executive Officer explained that these agents who have been suspended will gave to sign a bond of compliance before their wallets will be reactivated.
To ensure agents comply with this new rule, the MTN Mobile Money Limited have deployed a team to go for shopping in disguise at several agents point to see if they are complying with this new directive.
Those who are found going contrary to this new feature will be will be suspended or totally banned from working as an agent.
He also advised MTN Mobile Money uesers to always be vigilante and comply with their rules in order to strengthen the security of their wallets.
Some of the rules that MTN Mobile Money users should always comply with are:
1. Do not accept any transaction you did not approve
2. Do not expose your mobile money pin
