The fire that swept through the shops reportedly started around 9:30 in the morning. Personnel's from the Ghana National Fire service tried their possible best to quench the ranging fire which destroyed several properties within a few minutes
Speaking to the media while the firemen frantically fought the fire, the Public Relation Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service made several comments on the unavailability of some fire equipments needed to fight the fire
According to the Public Relation Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, currently, the country has just two functioning turntable ladders to fight fire in high rise buildings in the country
He made it known to the public that one of the turntable ladder is in Accra while the other one was stationed in Tema. His comments on the unavailability of just two functioning turntable ladders in the country has generated many several reactions which includes other personnels responding to his comments about the unavailability of the turntable fire fighting ladders and others is a lie.
Others also stated that it is not right for the Ghana National Fire Service to have just two Fire fighting turntable ladders while the leaders sit in V8s
It was also stated that the recent fire outbreaks recorded have become very frequently and these fires are being caused mostly by domestic human activities like cooking, ironing and burning, but in the case of the recent makola market fire incident, it was caused by an electrical fault in an old building which was stationed in the market.
