The British High Commissioner Finally Breaks Silence On Oliver Barker-Vormawor Arrest

Madam Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Ghana, has broken her silence on the recent arrest of the #FixTheCountry Movement’s lead Convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor.

The #FixTheCountry Movement’s lead Convener, Mr. Oliver Barker-Vormawor, was on Tuesday, 17 May 2022, arrested again by the Ghana Police.

According to Madam Felicity Nelson, (one of the #FixTheCountry Movement’s conveners), Oliver Barker-Vormawor was arrested this morning (May 17 2022), by Some Police officers while on his way to the court.

Speaking to JoyNews, Madam Felicity revealed that; “...Mr. Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has a court hearing today. The Police officer asked him to stop, and told him he is under arrest. So, he [Barker-Vormawor] asked ‘why am I under arrest?’ the Police said ‘your rights are curtailed when you are under arrest".

Reacting to the arrest, Madam Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Ghana, said she looks forward to see how the arrest of the (convener of the FixTheCountry Movement), will turn out.

On her official Twitter page, Madam Harriet Thompson wrote: “Oliver Barker Vormawor, convener of #FixTheCountry movement, arrested again, I understand for a motoring offence on his way to court. I’ll be interested to see where this goes…”.

Meanwhile, Felicity Nelson (one of the #FixTheCountry Movement’s conveners), wrote On the Movement’s official Facebook page: “Oliver arrested again. Police officer told him his rights are curtailed as soon as he was arrested. We are not safe”.
