A pregnant woman together with three others burnt to death in the Ashanti Region – [See photos].

 Amasie South District Police Command and fire officers are currently under investigations following the death of four and some other injured.

The incident which involved a family of four and some other persons occurred at Saturday around 11pm at the Mansi Aponapon in the Amansie South District in the Ashanti Region.

 The fire started unannounced and spread through the building that accommodated the deceases and some other residents. The deceases were Mr. Kofi Owusu, his wife and two children.

Meanwhile witnesses said about eight persons were in the house but four were said to have escaped before the fire escalated. "They might have not slept deep by then," a resident said.


“I had the call about the domestic fire outbreak at midnight. So I called the fire service to intervene. What we witnessed at the scene was that there were eight people in there when the house was burning. Fortunately, four of them were able to escape and the rest [Husband, wife and two children] all got burnt to death. The wife we are told was pregnant,” Amasie South District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization, Edward Odoru told.

 The remaining scorched was collected and deposited at the Saint Martins Hospital with the four other tenants who were injured also currently on admission at the hospital.
