IGP Dampare in Tamale to Visit Injured Officers of Police Anti-robbery Taskforce

The Inspector General of Police is in the Northern Regional Capital of Tamale to visit three injured police officers who last night were involved in a fatal accident on the Walewale-Bolgatanga road which left two other officers dead. Mr. George Akuffo Dampare along with senior police officials in the Region visited the Tamale Teaching Hospital were the injured officers were receiving treatment.

Last night, the five officers were dispatched from the Walewale police station to remedy a robbery incident which reportedly was taken place further up the Bolga highway. As they were moving, their vehicle with registration number GP 437 crashed, resulting in the instant death of two officers, C/Insp. James Akakose Aroma and Const. Akanvariwen Daniel.

The three officers who sustained life threatening injuries were later transferred from the Walewale Government Hospital to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and with the visit of the Police Chief, it is revealed that plans are far advanced through the collaborative effort of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces to airlift the officers to Accra for treatment.
