President Akuffo-Addo has today 8th October 2021 sworn in Dr George Akuffo Dampare as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Ghana Police Service.

Before being confirmed today, He has been acting as the IGP since 1st August, 2021 as directed by the President, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

At the swearing in ceremony, President Akuffo-Addo said that COP Akuffo Dampare has demonstrated that he is an effective leader and that he is indeed worthy to succeed Mr Oppong-Buanoh who is the immediate past IGP.

The newly sworn in IGP with His Excellency President Akuffo-Addo.

He has served the Ghana police service for over thirty-years as a police officer. His reputation far exceeds him. He is also a chartered accountant by profession. Before his swearing in today, he was tagged as the youngest Acting Inspector–General of Police (IGP) to be appointed in the Fourth Republic and the eighth youngest since Ghana gained independence.
