GIS: 19 Undocumented Burkinabès 'Chased' out of Ghana

The Ghana Immigration Service has Chased out 19 Burkinabes from the Country after they were spotted entering the country through unapproved routes. According to the Upper West Regional Public Relations Officer, Assistant Inspector IBN Yussif Duranah Abdul-Mumin Seidu, the action was part of efforts to clamp down on illegal immigrants and to enforce the President's directives. Some 5 Ghanaians were also prevented from leaving the country through unapproved roots. They were however educated on the implications of that.

As part of the efforts by the Ghana Immigration Service in the Upper West Region to clamp down on undocumented migration, Personnel from the Ghana Immigration Service at the Hamile Border Post on a routine patrol on Sunday, 11

the September, 2021, stopped Five (05) Ghanaians from leaving the shores of Ghana through unapproved routes and denied Nineteen (19) Burkina Faso Nationals stopped from entering Ghana.

The Five (05) Ghanaian citizens were educated on the dangers of patronizing unapproved routes to and from Ghana. Again, the Service Personnel reminded the irregular Ghanaian migrants on the Presidential directive on border closure. They were all males and aged between 31 and 43 years.

On the other hand, the Nineteen undocumented Burkina Faso migrants who were journeying into Ghana through unapproved routes were stopped around the Hamile stretch bordering Faso.

Comprising of Four (04) females and Fifteen (15) males, their purpose for the trip was revealed as being commercial. Their ages ranged between Seventeen (17) and Fifty-Six (56) years.

It must be indicated that the growing cooperation of the border resident in the Upper West Region coupled with the new tactics by the Regional Commander (CHIEF SUPT. PETER WILLIAM ANDOH) and his lieutenants is the cause for the positive progress in the fight against the menace of prohibited migration to and from Ghana through the Upper West Region. In the mist of covid-19 coupled with the security situation in our neighboring countries, the Personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service in the region is inspired by the Comptroller General of Immigration (LAWYER KWAME ATSUAH TAKYI) through the Upper West Regional Commander.  Whereas we treasure the cooperation and collaboration with the good people along the border communities, we wish to remind the few unscrupulous persons to desist from illegal border activities because the law will not be merciful with anyone found culpable. In these trying times, we urge everyone to support the security agencies to police the nation through secured borders.
