Concerned National Service Personnels of Sunyani Municipal, on the 17th November 2022, petitioned the Bono Regional Director of National Service Scheme over allowance increment.
The petition led by Kenneth Chetu Bewaale , states that " We delightfully write in reference to the current economic crisis that led to high cost of living. We demand an increment of the Ghc559.04 as monthly allowance.
The sadly collapsed of some businesses, increase in food stuffs, hike of fuel prices and badly increase of transportation has made the economy unbearable.
Averagely personnel spends Ghc35.00 a day which sums up to Ghc750.00 per month and it gives negative to the Ghc559.04. With this negative most of the personnels are left with no option than to borrow to meet their monthly expenses.
In view of this we plead with the National Service Directorate, the president of the republic of Ghana and his government to kindly consider our concerns of increasing our monthly allowance. The step taken by the president of National Union of Ghana students His Excellency Dennis Appiah Larbi on same issue has not taken effect till date.
We cannot wait any more rather than coming to your doorstep with tears. We cannot opt for an amount so any suitable amount by the government will be greatly appreciated."
