You Neglected Radio Gold Staff Since 2013 For ‘Hyped’ Donation – Atubiga Fires Mahama

Stephen Atubiga has scolded former President John Dramani Mahama for making the GHC100,000.00 donation to the management of Radio Gold at the expense of the welfare of staff who has sacrificed for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the past years. According to him, John Mahama and the NDC are to be blamed for the neglect these staff had endured since 2013, despite being dedicated to the party.

Mr Atubiga did not see any logic behind the donation to the management of the radio broadcasting company when there are some staff who have been indebted for more than half a decade. He indicated that some of the staff of the Radio Gold are unable to enjoy a decent meal nor pay for the rent and transportation to the work, all because of the failures of the NDC and management of the company.

He demanded that the precedent set with the support granted Radio Gold should be extended to all NDC affiliated radio stations lest it would be considered discriminatory. Mr Atubiga stressed that there are several other pro-NDC stations that are handicapped and need to be supported as Radio Gold has.

Mr Atubiga added that it would be commendable if John Mahama could lead a fundraising campaign to support the remaining pro-NDC stations that are in distress. That, he insisted could be done for the NDC party itself to support its operations and campaign.

“JDM could have also donated directly to NDC…and make himself available to lead a fundraising program for all the NDC-affiliated radio stations in the same predicament of Radio Gold.”

He blamed the leadership of the party for these happenings, and thus pounced on the National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo for “running the NDC like a sole proprietorship entity.”

Mr Atubiga indicated the founder of the NDC, late Jerry John Rawlings warned against this but was never granted any audience.

“Today, the NDC leadership is not pulling others along, they have no respect for others' rights or opinions. The party is run by one person's interests without internal or external consultations,” he reiterated.
