Today's World Bicycle Day has seen a man who bought his bicycle over 40 years ago and noted to riding it until he dies.
According to BBC News Pidgin, the 68-year-old Ibrahim Dan Maliki who stays in Kano in the northern region of Nigeria told the BBC that he has own his bicycle for over 40 years now, and he hopes to ride it till he dies.
The United Nations sets aside June 3rd of every year to celebrate bicycle and also emphasize the health benefits of using it.
Ibrahim recalled how much he bought his bicycle and how excited he was then.
He said I bought my bicycle 40 years ago for about N23 then, and I would never forget the happiness it gave him.
He lamented the high cost of spare parts now when he noted that a single tyre use to cost less than one naira then but not a tyre cost N2000, not to talk of a bicycle now.
