Madam Who Was Arrested By Her DCE For Feeding School Kids With Her Own Money Speaks

Somewhere last year, news went viral on Facebook where a lady supposedly a primary school madam was found on social media soliciting for funds to support her agenda in catering for poor school children who came to school without food or money to eat.

She was reported by her DCE for the action and hence was warned by Ghana Education Service to put a stop to her actions.

The woman, called Abena Serwaa Mankosa after her training college education was posted at Anninkorom basic school, a local farming community in the Atwima Nwabianya North District in the Ashanti Region. When she got there, according to her, she realised the condition of education system in the community was very poor and full of challenges. So she decided to help.

According to Abena Serwaa Mankosa, because the community is a farming community, most of the parents take their children to farm in the week days and allow them to go to school only when they have finished their farming activities.

She queried and found out that most of the parents cook only when they are in the farm and when they don't take the children along to the farm, it means the children will not eat so they must always goto the farm with the kids.

So madam Abena Serwaa Mankosa used her pocket money to buy food, learning materials and unIforms to the school children and also promised to provide them with food when they come to school

Even though her plan was fruitful with attendance increasing, she was intimidated by the DCE of the community and accused of begging in the name of the school children for her own selfish benefits

She was stopped and now, she has revealed that the school children have now started going back to their old life and the DCE is not also ready to support the school kids

Meanwhile, she has also said she won't do anything to support again even if she could.
