"We Should Be Able To Hold Those Who Take Our Taxes Responsible For How They Spend Them"- Azure

An investigative journalist and editor in chief for the fourth Estate media, Manasseh Azure Awuni has advised Ghanaians that they should hold people who takes their taxes responsible for how they spend them and stop blaming footballers and other personality who have struggle to make their own money in the country.

According to him, it is good for those personality to spend their money although if they built hospital or schools in the country, it will help the development of the country.

He stated in his message sent to Ghanaians that he will be happy if those personality he mentioned could do something surprising to help the nation, he will praised them and use Liverpool football star, Sadio Mane as an example who build hospital for his village people in Senegal.

"If a sports personality, who braves the cold out there to earn their money, is touched to do something for a community, I will praise them. And encourage others to help.

We should be able to hold those who take our taxes responsible for how they spend them. We don't have the right to dictate to private citizens how they should spend the money they genuinely make at the peril of their lives after they pay their taxes and other statutory obligations. We can only appeal to them and not dictate to them.

Philanthropy complements the development of a nation. It cannot be the primary source of development" he said in his message sent to Ghanaians on his social media wall.

However, let me use this opportunity to shower praises on our own footballer, Christian Atsu for similar benevolence towards Ghanaian prisoners by continually opening the prison gates for the many that have little recorded offenses.
