Richard Onyekachukwu as a pastor has been arrested for faking his kidnapping.
He was arrested by the Force Intelligence Response Team, the leader is called Abba Kyari, and was reported missing on June 16, 2021, by his brother normally Known as Prosper. He said the kidnappers said they need money before they free his brother, but their theory seemed suspicious.
The police arrested Mary the pastor's wife after investigation Mary said to the police that her husband went to work for about three weeks but his family taught he had been kidnapped.
She also said all the kidnapping case was planned that her husband planned, so as a wife he has to support her husband, they planned so that they will use the money that the family will use to pay the kidnappers will be used by her husband to settle his financial loans. For all that he said the police decided to arrest him the next day, the day pastor Richard made a statement that he is part of the kidnappers, so he took the police to a friend who is part of the kidnappers.
He said.“I am a pastor and contractor. I had a big church, but the roof was blown away by the wind. I took some loans to assist the businesses that I was doing to support the ministry. It was about N600K. Due to this, I found myself in financial challenges. At the same time, paying the loan became difficult. I made some losses in my poultry business and the COVID-19 pandemic did not help matters.“The banks were after me and I didn’t know what to do. I was thinking of getting money from my younger brother, Prosper, a rich civil servant, to offset the loan before I was dragged to court. It wasn’t easy; that was why the thought of self-kidnap came to me. I don’t know why I decided to use that strategy,”
