Akinbola Olamid, 24, made headlines again last week after stabbing her handsome husband with a knife and being held in Kirikiri Prison on orders from Ebute Meta Court, the Daily Post reported.
Chief Judge, Ms. OA Comolafe, ordered the defendant, a teacher and mother of two, to remain in prison pending advice from the Director of the Public Prosecutor's Office (DPP).
The judge ordered that the case be reproduced and a copy sent to the DPP for consultation.
This case violates Section 233 of the Lagos Criminal Code, 2015 (revised). The case was postponed until July 12.
According to sources, the tragic incident occurred on the morning of May 30, 2018 at the couple's home in Ikorodu. In an investigation last week, Olamid said she accidentally killed her husband.
She said her husband hit her and was still there that morning when he took the knife to scare her and then accidentally stabbed her.
According to her, the neighbors knew that she was experiencing domestic violence in her husband's household.
She also said that her family told her to divorce her husband after he ran away from home after a terrible accident, but she chose to live with him because they had two children and he was the only boy from her youth.
"I didn't kill him on purpose. He always hit me. Today he pushed me and hit me again. I used a knife to scare him, but I stabbed him accidentally. I won't kill my husband on purpose."
I used to run away from home when I was beaten, but today it's locked everywhere so I can't run away.
My family has told me to break up with him, but I don't want to because he was a man in my youth and we have two children together. You can wonder, everyone knows my husband used to hit me. "
