Road Accident

Dampare in tears: Police mourn officers involved in a fatal accident.

It is very painful when good men die and people who cause evil live. Yesterday was a Black Thursday for the Ghana police service as they lost two of their highly trained members of their anti-robbery task force in a fatal accident on the Walewale-Bolgatanga road. The two were part of a five member team responding to an emergency on that stretch according to the press release by the Ghana police service. The three other officers who were also involved in the accident are in critical conditions at a hospital in Walewale at the North East region and plans are far advanced to fly them for further treatment.

According to the release the families of the two victims have been informed and the IGP , Dr. Dampare has spoken to them.

This is going to be extremely difficult for the families of these victims. Because of the nature of these men's work, they must be protected at all costs. These were men who were attempting to reduce criminal activity in the country but were killed in the line of duty. It will be very upsetting if we continue to lose capable police officers in this manner. We hope that those in critical condition will receive the best possible care so that we do not lose them as well. Ghanaians now have a fondness for the police force as a result of the outstanding work they have done recently.

Many Ghanaians expressed their concern when the news broke. The following are some of the comments made following the the press release:

“Saddens me very much. The part where Good men die and the fools that caused thier death leave on.

Rest in power soldier's. You serve your country well and did great. Rest well. Im so hurt that ot had to happen that way. Rest well sojas.”

“Our men in uniform must be protected at what ever cost. even greedy politicians re airlifted on daily bases. our police should have a standing emergency response unit for them and them alone; cos they re always on the beat. so sad when you leave home to find bread and never return.

“May God grant healing to the three in critical condition, consolation to the bereaved families and peaceful repose of the souls of the two gallant officers, Amen.”

May the souls of these men Rest In Peace
