Sad Moment For Armed Robbers As Police Anti-Robbery Phalanx Charges

The former IGP, Mr. James Oppong Boanuh did not only lead a disciplined police service but also ensured that armed robbery activities in the country are clamped down to their barest minimum. Even though armed robbery cases were high during his last days, he was quick in forming a task force selected from the various units of the Ghana Police Service to ensure criminal activities do not thrive in the country.

Formed in June 2021 under the able leadership of James Oppong Boanuh the anti-robbery phalanx have been trained with modern skills to detect armed robbery and other criminal activities and arrest the culprits. James Oppong Boanuh is no more with the service but the new Inspector General of Police, COP George Akuffo Dampare has decided to provide them the needed encouragement to enable the task force to perform their duties without fear or favor.

This will be one of the saddest moments for armed robbers and other criminals in the country. Their operations will now be difficult since the task force has been directed to patrol communities day and night. They are armed with all the necessary equipment and the armed robbers will this time around not have their way easily.

Ghanaians should rest assured that Police visibility in the communities will be increased and everyone will have peace of mind. There have been recent cases of armed robberies in Greater Accra and some parts of the Northern Region. Some innocent lives have been lost in the process but it seems their activities are gradually reducing as compared to a few months ago.

In the Ashanti Region, for example, armed robbery cases have been reduced. Hitherto, there were moments where armed robbery cases were being recorded almost every day with some persons losing their lives in broad daylight. The Western, Central, and the other regions have been relatively calm lately. This is a clear indication that the task force has not been sleeping on the job. We can only wish them well and help them with information on the hideouts and activities of the criminals.
