Armed Robbers Fatally Shoot Another Mobile Money Merchant In Takoradi

A mobile money vendor has been shot at Ahinkofi Takoradi. The incident happened in the evening of Friday, April 9, 2021 at around 7 pm.

The vendor whose name has been given as Joseph Amoah is reported to have been having his normal business when two young guys appeared in his shop and demanded for all his sales.

In his account, Joseph Amoah indicated that he was in his shop when the two armed robbers entered with a gun.

He says they forcefully took away the bag containing his sales for the day. In an attempt to draw attention of residents nearby, the mobile money vendor shouted for help and that got the armed robbers angry.

They returned to the shop and shot him three times in the left thigh and bolted.

"The armed robbers came and demanded for money. One is tall and the other is short. They asked for the money and I started struggling with them in my shop. But I lost the fight and they took my bag and all the money in it. So I started shouting for help but they shot my thigh and bolted". Joseph Amoah narrated. He is currently in the hospital receiving treatment.

Eye witnesses who were at the scene during the time of the attack indicated that the incident happened very quickly. According to them, they chased the armed robbers but all proved futile.

"I was just here speaking with him. Joseph is my friend since school days. Immediately I left, I heard gunshots. I came back and my friend was lying down helplessly. I found three bullets on the floor. If we were all here, this would not have happened. An eye witnesses noted.

The mobile money shop, is being managed by the young man and his sister (Monica Eshun). The incident has left many residents around wondering what could have triggered the armed robbers to target the shop.
