A female pedestrian walking on the Fumesua to Adum highway has been knocked down to death after a long vehicle truck veered off the N6 highway this morning. The truck, belonging to Passionate (PRE) Logistics Company Limited, was coming from Adum after an offloading of goods, when a motorcycle rider crossed him at Dela Pharmacy joint, Fumesua.
The motorcycle coming from Accra to Kumasi, had used a pavement in-between two broken accident barriers which divides the two roads, causing the long vehicle driver into an accident. Eye witness Oforiwaa Abaawa, a Fufu seller who was waiting for a car to Ejisu narrated that, the motorcycle rider instead of going to use the roundabout at Oduom, decided to use the pavement between the broken accident barriers and moved straight from the Accra to Kumasi road onto the Kumasi to Accra road, causing the long vehicle driver to veer off the road.
The long vehicle driver crashed the pedestrian from her sideways sending her to death on the spot, while the Motorcycle rider tried running. The motorcycle rider was apprehended by a taxi driver who crashed him from the backside when he tried fleeing the scenes of the accident. Ejisu Police, after arriving on the scenes of the accident, arrested the minor wounded motorcycle rider and together with the taxi driver, he was taken to Ejisu Government hospital where he is receiving treatment.
The police are yet to tow the Long Vehicle truck off the road after the body was taken to the Ejisu hospital mortuary. The deceased pedestrian, from her identification cards in her purse, is a thirty-year-old Mamriam Lasatu. Mamriam who was dressed in a Leopard coloured straight dress, with ash slippers and a black wristwatch, had two tribal marks on her face; one on each side of her chin. Her eyes brown looking, and a dimpled face with a straightened nose, could all be seen while her lower body looked shrank after the accident.
The Ejisu police are working on locating Mamriam's family to break the news of her death whiles the motor rider and the long vehicle driver faces the law for her death.
