Theft robbery

Suspect in the robbery of a Buduburam MoMo vendor shot by the police.

A suspect in the robbery and murder of a mobile money dealer in Budumburam two weeks ago has been shot and killed by members of the Central East Police Command.

Following a tip, the police carried out a raid at the residence of the suspect, Kwame.

But as he tried to get away although being handcuffed, the police shot him.

After a struggle in which the second suspect bit the officer's hand, the police were able to take him into custody.

A third suspect, according to the Police, is reportedly on the run.

On December 30, 2022, the assailants shot the 28-year-old Mobile Money dealer Michael Anderson at a public toilet in Buduburam.

On January 5, 2023, Michael passed away while being treated at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.

The victim was attacked after going to the public toilet to relieve himself, according to sources.

At gunpoint, the manager of the public toilet facility was also robbed. He claimed that although the robbers took his money, they did not shoot him.

The public toilet attendant, who is the eyewitness, claimed that the robbers accosted them moments after the mobile money vendor got at the site in an interview with JoyNews' Richard Kwadwo Nyarko.
