Special Prosecutor investigates Charles Bissue, Akonta Mining and public officials over galamsey

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has begun looking into some public figures for their alleged involvement in illegal mining.

The investigation focuses on a few Lands Ministry, Forestry Commission, and the disbanded Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining officials (IMCIM).

In the case of the Committee, it will take into account the concerns regarding the management and seizure of excavators, equipment, road vehicles, and gold nuggets.

Charles Bissue is accused of using his position as secretary to the IMCIM for personal gain, according to a press release from the Office of the Special Prosecutor on Monday, October 10. The investigation is still ongoing.

This is based on an investigative documentary by Tiger Eye P.I.

In addition, the investigation "targets the operations of Akonta Mining Limited and other companies; foreign nationals allegedly engaged in illegal mining; and allegations of corruption and corruption-related offenses against some Municipal and District Chief Executives and political party officials."

This occurs only a few days after Charles Bissue severely criticized Anas Aremeyaw Anas for recently revisiting his issue regarding galamsey.
