Rising water shortage has become an issue of concern in Upper West Region, some notable communities including Wechiau Bao in the Wa West District, Nyoli in Wa West District, Dapuoha in Wa Municipality, Jonga-Tabiesi in Wa Municipality and Kpankolee also in Wa Municipality have all had challenges with accessing potable water for consumption and execution of household chores.
Residents of Goripie in the Wa East District have expressed concerns over persistent water shortages in parts of the community.
Speaking in an interview with some residents at the community, Madam Kenda Mubarik said the shortage in water has been a challenge to them for a long time.
She explained that the breakages in water supply in the community makes them to spend long hours in queues before they could fetch water to perform their domestic chores.
In a related development, another resident, Mr Iddrisu Issah popularly known as Pastor, also bemoaned the rate at which their dam is being engulf by filth.
According to him, the community use the dam for other domestic purposes but was quick to add that, the encroachment of fifth into the dam is a threat to their life and well being.
The Community has called for the District Chief Executive, Mr. Moses Jotie and other concerned bodies to come to their aid.
