Nurudeen Abass, The regional director of communications in the Ashanti region for the New Democratic Congress, speaking on Nhyira FM this morning has suggested that the Ghana Police Service do character audit as well as thorough background checks before they recruit people into the Police Service.
According to him, the usual way of letting people apply and selecting few is not appropriate enough to help get the right people into the service. He believes some people won’t get the chance if we audit their characters and also do proper background checks on them. Some are frauds and thieves already and getting them into the service will only equip them to even do worse.
He added that, guns like AK47 are only given to the police so how come we see some on armed robbers. This shows that, there are some dirty police officers who sometimes provide the robbers with weapons.
He also entreated the politicians and also people with influence to stop using their positions to get their people into the police service. All those acts are some of the reasons were are here we are now as a country in terms of security.
