Ashanti Regional Chairman of Concerned Teachers, Not Suspended. This Is Why

There is a publication in circulation on social media platforms that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-GH), Mr. Kingsley Ayimadu, has been suspended by the National Executive Council (NEC).

Interesting to note about the false publication is that it did not state the reasons for his suspension, the locus of body that took the decision and on top of it, lacked any signatory. In a swift response by the communication team of the union, Mr. Ayikwi-Awulley, the National Communication Director has denied the news, classifying it as fake news.

In a press statement released yesterday, it stated, “We have sighted a letter dated 19th October 2021 making rounds on some social platforms purported to have suspended the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers.”

The letter also mentioned that neither President nor members of NEC is aware of such suspension. “The President and Chairman of NEC, National Officers and the National Executive Council (NEC) are unaware of such suspension.” It added.

Stakeholders and members of the union are therefore urged to disregard the news because the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Ayimadu, is still at post and remains the regional chairman for the region.

In related news, there have been pictures going viral on social media about the end of year package (2021) for CCT-GH union members. From the picture which I will share below, a member has received a 5 kg bag of rice, with a vegetable cooking oil, a white towel and a T-shirt, but I assume the T-shirt and the towel was last year's end package.

The Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana has come under so many allegations by some aggrieved union members who want to paint the union black. Although the communication team has been responding to them, the problem still exist.
