Theft robbery

'He said he has misplaced his keys' - Man, 24, in trouble for breaking into a house at Aburi

Aburi Police has taken custody of Kofi Lensah after he was caught breaking into a house this morning. Kofi, 24 years of age, used his feet, and kept smacking the wooden gate that protected the front entrance of a house at Brinbong; a farming community within Aburi.

According to an eyewitness who caused the arrest of Kofi Lensah, Kofi had tried to steal electronics from that house when he saw the owners of the house going to their farm. I was passing by the Brinbong Catholic Church when I heard someone making loud sounds.

I found the suspect, in front of the house and when I questioned him, he said he has misplaced his keys and needed to get into the house. I felt his pain and walked away but later came back when I sensed he could be a thief.

Upon returning back, I found him looking around like thieves do before trying to sneak some items from the house. I shouted for help and together with some residents, we were able to arrest him, Michael Boakye, an eyewitness narrated to the Aburi Police after Kofi was handed over to the police.

Residents of Brinbong had tried to lynch Kofi with canes for breaking into the house of a farmer but Michael intervened on his behalf and Kofi was handed over to the police without any problem. Kofi Lensah is been processed to court and will be facing the Aburi Circuit court on Wednesday 26 January for home burglary.

The police hope to secure a remand for him so a full investigation can go on. Officer Duah Clinton, the arresting officer hinted that Kofi will be kept at the station until Wednesday morning when he is ready for court.

We are yet to begin investigations into the case and until we have full case against him, we can't take him to court. We will work form now to Wednesday morning to investigate the case and prepare him for court on Wednesday when the case is mature for a hearing, the officer said before Kofi Lensah was taken away this morning.
