The Northern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress who doubles as the chief of Tugu Yapalsi in the northern region has arrested five men in his community for failing to provide him his request of two cows for his Eid ul adha celebration.
The chief, Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila ordered his elders to offer him two cows for his Eid celebration from the Fulani men taking care of people's cattle in his community. He ordered them to provide this by the end of Sunday but they could not get the two cows, however, they presented to him a cow and Ghc400 on Monday but he rejected the offer and sent them back.
On the Eid grounds yesterday while the public wait for their imams and elders to come and lead the prayers, Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila stormed the scene with police CID and distributed copies of police invitation letters asking the men to appear before the police at the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters with their Fulani men to explain why they refused to give him the cows.
Meanwhile according to the Fulanis, the cattle they are taking care belongs to Nyab Lamashegu, Alhaji Megali, Alhaji Abukari and one Ziblila, which is why they could not offer the cows to the chief.
Meanwhile, others have described the action of the chief cum politician as selfish but culture demand that at the end of every year, the Fulanis and any other person who use cattle in the communities offer some of the cattle to the chief in the form of royalties.
We will update our followers on the outcome of the police invite.
