Road Accident

Driver trapped to death after a truck carrying timber logs fell

At Sankore in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo area, a truck driver who was hauling timber logs was crushed to death when one of the logs fell on him.

Many locals came to the scene of the tragedy, were observed crying.

One Boampong, an eyewitness, claims that the dead lost control while navigating the curve at a four-armed junction that connects the settlements of Sankore, Kwapong, Kokooso, and Abuom.

When the driver's buddy realized there was an accident on the horizon, he was able to jump off the truck in time.

Observers at the scene ordered the dead to exit the car, but he persisted on moving to the outside lane of the road to stop the logs from falling.

He attempted to jump off, but when he realized he wouldn't succeed, he was stopped by one of the longest logs.

Before bystanders could free him from the entrapped wood, he passed away instantaneously.

In anticipation of more inquiries, the deceased's body has since been left at the Goaso Municipal Hospital with the police.
