C/R: A woman grieves over her missing child found dead inside a pit at Abura-Dunkwa.

Maame Esi Gyanwaa is weeping the death of her child who got missing some three days ago at Abura Dunkwa in the Central region. The child aged, one and half years old, was playing with other kids around their house in the neighbourhood. Suddenly, the child got missing and the mother mounted a thorough search for the child but could not traced the missing child. According to the mother, the child was properly cared for and has no worries at all to leave the house.

Thereafter, on the 26th March,2021, she reported the matter to the Abura Dunkwa Police Station to help the search for the missing baby. The police advised the mother to make announcement at the local information centres.

On the 29th March, 2021 the police received the sad information that, the lifeless body of the toddler has been found inside a small pit filled with water in a nearby bush. The police team followed up and retrieved the dead body of the child and deposited it at the Abura Dunkwa Government Hospital for autopsy and preservation.

The uncle of the dead child, P. K Aidoo, spoke to Peace news correspondent Oscar Adawu Dadzie on the matter. According to the uncle, his nephew don't go far from their house. But where they saw the dead body is far away from home. He added that, the small child cannot walked that far to that area. The uncle suspected some foul play and hope the police autopsy report will reveal the whole truth.

DSP Francis Andam Okyere ( Head of police division for Assin South) confirmed the sad news to Peace Media. According to the the police officer, a complaint was lodge with them on the 26th March,2021 about a missing one and half year old child. They started a search for the missing baby and got a hint of the lifeless body been deposited inside a pit in a bush on the 29th March,2021. The body was taken to the Abura Dunkwa government hospital.

Abura Dunkwa is a the capital of the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central region.
