The legal system of Ghana needs urgent and prudent reforms in order to achieve socio economic justice citizens deserve. The system normally hampers justice and distorts judgement on account for bureaucratic manual procedures and expensiveness in pursuing bona fide cases. There are lot of people in police custody without been arraigned in court or sentenced by a judge.
The ace media personality and Head of Programs at Despite Media Group, Afai Pokuah, has called for justice for all Ghanaian inmates who are suffering in police custodies without conviction or court sentence.
She narrated how a man was reserved in police custody for 10years without a conviction, but he has been released with the help from Legal Aid.
“The Mile 7 man who was held in custody has finally been released after 10years of being in jail without conviction. NO CELEBRITIES HASHTAG 4 this man.
If Legal Aid had not intervened, you can imagine but Justice for all not just Akwapem Poloo”, she said.
She wrote this on her Facebook page today.
