Ex-service men of Dutch Komenda cut sod for the construction of Ultra-modern toilet facility


Ex-service men of Dutch Komen have cut the sod for the construction of a 8-seater Ultra-modern toilet and bath facilities at Dutch Komenda in the Komenda Edina Ebirem Aguafo municipality.


A sod has been cut for the construction of a modern toilet facility for the people of Kanka, a fishing community in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem in the Central Region.


The sod cutting which signify the commencement of the project is aimed at addressing the issue of open defaecation in the area.

The WC toilet facility, according to the people will bring a face lift to the people and the commuters attitude.


The project is fully funded by the Ex-service men in the country and abroad.


The community has only one toilet which is currently not functional due to the Assembly member of the area who ripped off the roofing of the only toilet in the area service over 5,000 population.

The Leader of the group, Colonel (Red) Nathaniel Kobina Adjei Fraikue, in an interview after the sod cutting said, the construction of the toilet facility to the people of Dutch Komenda (Kanka) is part of this contribution to their people. And they are doing the to end the practices of open defecation in the area.


CPO1 Alphonse Archer Baidoo hinted that both male and female with the absence of good public toilet facility for sometime now have been using the sea and lagoon shores as a place of convenience.


He continued that they have had several discussions with the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality on the old toilet facility but due to financial constraint at the assembly, no much attention has been eyed to old facility.

'I'm glad that, we the ex-servicemen from Kanka have decided to help in our own small ways to get the modern toilet facility a done', he added.


CPO1 Alphonse Archer Baidoo therefore

called on all residents to come on board and other natives outside Kanka to return and help develop the community.

Colonel Rtd Adjei-Mensah who on behalf of the community thanked the Ex-service men for the exercise said toilet is one of the essential facility every developed community is needed.


A Resident, Mr. Eshun also expressed gratefulness to the Ex-service men and said the project when completed will bring a great relief to the entire community.
