As the number of accidents in Ghana continue to rise, the number of people who killed through road crashes in the Country is on the rise.
According to statistics from the National Road Safety Authority, the number of accidents recorded in Ghana from January to September stands at 11,858 with 11,659 injuries recorded in the same period.
Below is the Regional breakdown of persons killed through road accidents in the 16 Regions from January to September 2021.
The rest of the Regions are as follows,
Eastern Region : 357
Central Region: 151
Bono East Region : 95
Western Region : 91
Volta Region : 84
Upper East Region : 77
Savannah Region : 72
Bono Region : 70
Ahafo Region : 56
Western North Region : 54
Northern Region : 46
Upper West Region : 37
Oti Region : 15
North East Region : 6
From the figures above, the total number of persons killed through road crashes in the Country from January to September 2021 stands at 2,126.
Road safety experts and other stakeholders are calling on motorists to obey road traffic regulations to reduce the rate of road accidents in the Country.
