A businessman and well-known gold dealer whose name was given as Mr. Obeng has been kidnapped by masked men in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region, Wassa Gyapa. The incident was recounted by one Madam Abena Nyame in an interview with Oyerepa TV reporter and Asona FM presenter, Agya Yaw Obeng. She said the crime occured early Monday morning around 6:30 am at the victim's house at Wassa Gyapa.
The kidnappers were heavily armed and masked men, she said. They picked up the victim in his Toyota Hilux pickup and left. The brother of the kidnapped man, Mr. Opoku spoke about the kidnap and expressed his shock at the news saying “we are all shocked this could happen to our brother. I don't think he has any serious issues with people and so I don't know why they would do that to him and we have made calls to people who are close to him but to no avail".
The case has been reported at the Wassa Gyapa Police Department and the officer in charge of the case, DSP Selorm Setorglo refused to talk about the issue as he claimed he “is busy attending to a case". We all hope Mr. Obeng will be found soon without any problems.
