Dunkwa-on-Offin: New Transport Fares Announced Effective 19th May 2022

Transport fares in Upper Denkyira East Municipality will see a 20 percent upward review effective today Thursday, May 19, 2022.

The new transport fares in the municipality would affect vehicles that commute long distances and taxis.

The new fares were arrived at after consultations between the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Municipal Assembly.

Justifying the reason for the increment, the Union said, commercial drivers had to deal with Petroleum prices increment, but they can no longer bear the hardship they have been compelled to go through.

The GPRTU Welfare Chairman in Dunkwa Municipality, Mr. Nurudeen Iddrisu, a.k.a Baba Jida cautioned drivers to desist from charging different fares when quizzed on a new drivers group calling it Self Town Running Association  agitating over the fares

“We are informing our drivers that from thursday fares have been increased by 20 percent,” Mr. Nurudeen told .

“Yes, I had a meeting with this group but they are an unrecognized group but they have to adhere to the dictates of the GPRTU and Municipal Assembly,” he cautioned.
