There Was No Tear Gas In The Region At The Time The Incident Happened-Deputy Police Commander

Following events on Ejura shooting, the president, Nana Akuffo Addo has appointed a committee to look into the cause and probably find lasting solutions to similar issues.

Even though many Ghanaians do not support the establishment of the committee since they feel that the soldier that committed should only be made to face the law, the committee which is headed by Justice Kingsley Koomson is currently interviewing key persons in connection with the issue.

Today being the second day of enquiry, the deputy Ashanti Regional police commander, DCOP David Agyemang Adjem was on the chair to testify his knowledge and intelligence on the matter.

In the Ashanti regional Deputy police commander's account, he revealed that they were not adequately resourced to combat the menace hence the police intension of inviting the military for a backup. He admitted that they did not have adequate logistics as well.

"There was no tear gas in the region at the time. We assumed the presence of the police would deter the protesters which went wrong"
