Martin Kpebu who is private legal practitioner has reprimanded the media's reportage of the case including two adolescents affirmed to have murdered 11-year-old Ishmael Mensah apparently for money rituals.
According to Mr. Kpebu, it was unlawful for the media to uncover the identities of the two suspects, given that they are adolescents below 18 years old.
"Beginning all along, I should say that up until now, as a country we have not handle this matter well particularly the media. There is obvious proof that one of them is 16 years of age.
In established truth in that event, it was provei that the two of them were under 18 but then the media went down showing their identities. That isn't right. It is a wrongdoing under the juvenile justice act.
The legal counselor also shown his disappointment over the absence of sympathy towards the suspects.
"The two young people are still in the development stage, their cerebrums are still growing so with regards to caution, they are adolescents. They are more inclined to commit errors and perpetrate violations.
We, in this manner, need to give them another opportunity. I have heard so many countless individuals calming that they should kill these adolescents. That is something we should dismiss wholeheartedly," he added
Four people have been arrested so far in connection with the murder of the 11 year old Ishmael Mensah.
