Kintampo Police arrest family running wee enterprise; husband, other accomplices bolt

Three suspects were apprehended by police in Grumah-Lime, a Kintampo suburb in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region, with a bag and bundles of dried substance thought to be Indian Hemp, also known as "wee."

According to the Kintampo Divisional Police Crime Officer, ASP Edmund Agyemang Badu, a handpicked squad of police carried out an operation last Wednesday night after receiving intelligence from concerned residents.

ASP Agyemang Badu revealed that the suspects included a wife and brother of a specific individual thought to be the major suspect in an interview with Kintampo Radio's Abdul Rahman Shaibu on Friday morning, which was broadcast live on MyNewsGh.com.

The main "dealer," as described by ASP Badu, and a few other suspects were still on the loose, and efforts were being made to apprehend them.

DSP Agyemang Badu also stated that the arrested suspects will be processed for court soon, while investigations into the matter continued and efforts were made to apprehend the remaining suspects on the run.

Residents in Kintampo have long been concerned about crime, particularly armed robbery, burglary, and other forms of theft. The Kintampo divisional police command's efforts to reduce crime have resulted in the arrest of a number of lawbreakers, some of whom have been convicted and sentenced, while others are now on trial in various courts throughout the Bono East and Bono regions.

Last month (September 2021), the Kintampo police conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of one of their own, Corporal Christian Adjei, at Cheremankomah, a Kintampo suburb, from whom suspected marijuana, a stolen motorcycle, some AK-47 rifle ammunition, a body armor, and a dead body bag, among other items, were retrieved.
