Flood

Kumasi in the news again after another heavy rainfalls.

Kumasi is in the news again for all the bad reasons. After last night havoc caused the the rains, it was believed that we have had enough of it. Only to be greeted with another heavy down pour today too. It is gradually becoming a norm that anytime it rains in Kumasi, residents should fear for their dear lives. Residents of Oforikrom , Santasi Apre, Airport roundabout, Aboabo, Suame, Anloga junction, Kejetia market and other places were hit by today's rain.

Some residents at Santasi Apre were trapped in their rooms by the flood. They couldn't swim out so their relatives had to call the Ghana fire service to come to their rescue. Not to talk of their valuable items been destroyed.

The sad and the unfortunate thing happened at Anloga Junction where it was reported that two people were been washed away by the flood. Reports indicates that a man and a woman were drowned but rescuers were able to save the man but the woman was carried away. Reports have it that the man was able to hold onto a wood in the water before help came but the woman couldn't do same.

Drivers from Dichemso to Airport roundabout had to park their car because around Jofell Restaurant was flooded making it difficult for car to pass. Drivers who tried using the road near had their car been washed away.

Kejetia market was not left out. The place became flooded that store owners couldn't not close their shops. We are waiting for shop owners to come out with the estimate of the destruction. Vehicles couldn't not move. Commercial transports couldn't move causing passengers to be stranded over there.

They say, proper raining season has not yet started and we are experiencing these kind of destructions. My worries are that come July what will happened when proper raining season starts. I guess only God can save us.
