Honourable Mr. Ekow Quansah Hayford who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana was gruesomely murdered on October 9th, 2020 by armed robbers whiles returning from a campaign trip. The MP who was affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) was shot dead around 1:00am at dawn on the Abeadze Dominase Mankessim Road.
The belated NPP MP, Honourable Mr. Ekow Quansah was 50 years of age and sadly left behind a surviving wife, Mrs. Ophelia Hayford and 3 children. Mrs. Ophelia Hayford has been given the nod to replace his husband as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfansteman constituency. Mrs. Ophelia before the death of her husband worked with the Interpol Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department(CID) Headquarters. She worked for a period of 27 years and was a Chief Inspector in terms of rank. We are yet to know if the 47 year old Ophelia Hayford will win in the parliamentary seat of which she sacrificed her professional career for a political one.
Her husband was finally laid to rest today, 28th November 2020 at Kessim School Park and buried at Mankessim Cemetery. In attendance was the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye, some Member of Parliament and several dignitaries from other political parties.

But anyways, the Ghana Police Service hav arrested more than 6 people in connection with the murder of the NPP MP. We hope the bereaved family will find Justice soon.
